Marines Emblem

Robert B Brown passed away June 19th, 2020 at Cottage in the Meadow. Bob was 85 and born in Yakima on March 27, 1935. He grew up with his family in Wapato, graduating from Wapato High School. He then enlisted in the Marine's, and was very proud of his service. Bob worked in Insurance Sales the majority of his adult life.
Bob was welcomed into our family over 30 years ago when he met, courted, then married, Mary Craig. He not only became her husband, but also our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and a huge part of the extended family's lives. Bob was a dear friend and loved by everyone.
Bob was a very patient and generous man (except with his tools, which he wrote his name on with red paint) His kindness and willingness to help was unsurpassed.
After retirement, Bob stayed busy keeping their one acre yard a show-place. It was always perfect. His greatest pastime was fishing. Bob would fish with anyone, but his best fishing buddies were his son, Billy and brother-in-law, Homer.
Bob and Mary took many trips to Florida and enjoyed countless trips to Reno, Windover and Legends. They also followed the grandkids and great-grandkids across numerous states watching their sporting events. A very proud Papa.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Frazier and Johnnie Brown, and sister and brother in law, Jean and Homer Dunn.
Bob leaves behind his wife, Mary Craig-Brown, daughters Crystie Johnson (Rod) and Cari Haywood (Tim); son Billy Craig (Jennifer); and his children from his first marriage, Reese Lapka and Tracey Womack.
Grandkids Josh Busey (Stacey), David McIllroy (Amanda), Sean Craig (Janel), Billy Craig (Jessica), Steele Johnson (Laura), Danna McKimmy (Jake), and Abby Davis (Quincy). The great grandkids are Jordyn and Justin Busey, Will and Emily Craig, Cory, Lauren and Andrew Craig.
No funeral is scheduled at this time. Please, no flowers, but donations can be made in Bob's name to the Yakima Humane Society.
A special thank you to Virginia Mason Yakima and Cottage in the Meadow for taking such good care of Bob. Also, Veterans Administration which has helped immensely these past few difficult years.
